It is proved that smoking cigarette have dangerous effects on the human body. Through medical research and studies the hazards of smoking were made known to us; improvements in treatment and therapy have been popping up in the markets to progress the overall well being of a chain smoker.

It may sound ironic that other than the temporary sensation that gratifies smokers, as opposed to the long term side effects that they may soon have to deal with, there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight for them as far as calling it quits is concerning. A chain smoker may find it very difficult to get rid of this harmful habit due mainly to his dependence on nicotine which is the prevalent substance in tobacco that is used to manufacture cigarettes. Cigarette smoke once inhaled lets nicotine pass immediately through the lungs, where it is delivered and absorbed into the body’s bloodstream. This substance being a stimulant creates a feeling of euphoria or pleasure. On the downside, it can also produce involuntary muscle twitches, rapid breathing, abdominal cramps and even depression to name a few.

Ultimately, the body being a flexible mechanism may be able to obtain a certain level of acceptance to this drug’s effects. This may just be difficult because you’d have to continue that level of nicotine intoxication or else you have to face the often unpleasant and adverse withdrawal symptoms that are associated with the inhibition of any addictive drugs. Those are the main reason why consumers find it hard to quit.

As a result it is a work of creativity that Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik was able to come up with the electronic cigarette in 2003. The excellent idea is to arise with a gadget that really just imitates the act of smoking, or to look like smoking, but with less or no unfavorable effect on the human body. The device discharges a mist like vapor that resembles cigarette smoke by vaporizing a liquid solution through heat or ultrasonics in some cases.

The mouthpiece, an atomizer and the battery are the three main components of electronic cigarette. The mouthpiece usually houses the absorbent, sponge-like material where the liquid solution to be vaporized is stored. It is open on both sides and is designed to allow the vapor to get away into the smoker’s mouth when inhaled. The atomizer, as it is referred to in the industry, is the heating procedure that vaporizes the liquid solution so mist can be created. This has to be replaced occasionally as the accompanying filament tends to burn out after a while though substitute time varies based on practice and manufacturing conditions. The last module is the battery unit which typically is the biggest part in any electronic cigarettes. The unit houses the logic board and the battery itself but for ease we’ll just refer to it as the battery. They come with different charging options like the regular A/C adapters, USB or even car chargers.

So go right ahead and look for an e-cigarette store near you. You’ll never know as this may be the best option for you to be totally smoke-free for the rest of your life.

E-cigs are used by the smokers who wish to quit their smoking. The smokeless cigarettes can be consumed without any fear.

Different schools have different admission policies. There are some schools that will allow students to enroll if they have spent some time working in a healthcare position but most of them do require that a degree in the science field is completed prior to enrolling. Someone that has completed their degree in a science field and that has worked in the healthcare industry for a while will be almost instantly accepted. So, the point here is that you must count the years that you have to spend in getting a degree and/or the work experience.

Here is one very important piece of advice: if you are serious about getting into the school, spend some time doing some research to learn the history involved in the physician assistant position and speak to someone in the healthcare industry that can help you to be more prepared during the interview. You need to find a source that can tell you what the likely questions will be during the interview. If your application is rejected by the admissions committee, you have to take the time wasted into account just in case you don’t get admission in another college.

The AAPA, or American Academy of Physician Assistants, has mandated that each person that wishes to begin working as a physician assistant must first complete twenty six months of classes at an accredited school. So, add another 26 months to the calculations, and ensure that the college you are about to enroll with is accredited. Each exam will be given and managed by the NCCPA, or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. You should see if the school can give you some additional information in a packet or in a brochure.

An account must be opened with Central Applications Service for Physician Assistants, or CAPSA, as part of the admissions process for a physician assistant. It can take a considerable amount of time for CAPSA to process the applications that they have. You will need to consider this additional time spend with CAPSA and make sure that you have send in the application early so it is not approved after the classes have begun. You do not want to miss any time out of the classes. Some colleges require students to complete other application formalities, such as applying to an affiliated or accompanying university. Once someone takes the time to review the information that has been provided to this point, they are sure to understand that they must go through years of schooling and work experience as well as following a strict plan if they want to become a physician assistant.

A test is given at the end of the physician assistant course and this will determine if they are able to begin practicing. These testing programs and exams vary from state to state. Each state is the same in their requirement for a graduating physician assistant to take a licensing exam that the state gives. Some states allow Physician Assistants to start practice after passing the license exam, while some states don’t. You should factor this time into your calculations as well. The official title of Physician Assistant – Certified, or PA-C, is only earned once the physician assistant has passed the NCCPA exam, or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants’ exam. If the PAs want to latch on to the “C” after the PA, they must maintain 100 hours of continuing education every 2 years, and get their skills tested once in 6 years.

You must push yourself to be organized and aware during each of the many steps involved in becoming a physician assistant because it does take a long period of time to accomplish. Be sure to factor in all of the time requirements before you enroll so you can plan out the course that will lead you to a successful career in this profession.

How long does it take to become a physician assistant?’ is a commonly asked question among students interested in becoming one. For a more detailed explanation, please visit: Physician Assistant Salary

Every season brings unique activities that require us to perform some physical activity we may not want to do but have no choice. As I look outside right now it is snowing here on the eastside and that usually means a bit of shoveling that will need to be done. This seasonal activity is a, “I have to..” activity of daily living (ADLs), rather than ADLs we want to do. Therefore, let’s talk about shoveling snow since that time of year is upon some of us, though hopefully on its way out! Of course, if snow is not an issue based on where you live, this information can also be applied to gardening, digging a hole or some other yard related shoveling activity.

First, a few facts that help us appreciate why back pain is so common when we shovel:

1. When we bend over, approximately 2/3rds of our body weight is being lifted in addition to what we’re lifting. Hence, a 180# person has to lift 120# of body weight every time he or she bends over.

2. a 5 pound weight equals 50 pounds if you hold it out in front of you, now think about the 10 or 20 pound weight on the end of your shovel.

3. Your legs will always be much stronger than your back or your arms. The problem comes in that most people use their arms, not the legs, when the shovel.

4) Most of us bend over using poor technique, lift the shovel with the arms and back (not the legs), and rapidly extend and twist the back when we throw the substance from the shovel – 3 bad things!

5. To make it all worse we do the same things over and over and over again, with bodies that are not in proper shape to be doing the activity in the first place. So, what do you do about it?

One way to prevent injuries, especially to the low back is to avoid the activities that injure it in the first place. For those of us who can’t hire the neighborhood kid to shovel the driveway here are some basic tips. The first fact is, we can’t change the fact that 2/3rds of our body weight is above our waist. What we can change right now is just how much you load up that shovel with snow or dirt. Secondly, always bend down using your strong leg muscles, not your back. This reduces the strain that is put on the back while lifting. Take multiple breaks and switch sides so you don’t “beat up” the same muscle groups repeatedly.

If you do hurt your back – using an analogy of a cut on your skin -avoid picking at the cut so it can heal. If your back hurts after shoveling, use ice/rest followed by gentle stretching and modified activities – DON’T go back out and shovel (ie, don’t pick at your cut!). Some wise considerations for shoveling include warming up before starting, staying “in shape” by regular exercise throughout the year, maintaining a good nutritional diet and getting enough sleep.
